Efficiency

When searching literature databases always optimize the search results for maximum viewing efficiency. This typically means viewing results that are:

  1. Sorted by relevance (as opposed to most default settings of date)
  2. 50-100 citations per page
  3. search terms are highlighted

In PubMed you can  make these settings after running a search by first clicking the gear icon in the upper right corner of the search results page and then by clicking the desired viewing options.

Note that in the "summary" view in PubMed search terms are bolded. In the "abstract" view the entire abstract if visible, but bolding is lost.
